Lodges and Snowcats
Vertebrae Lodge is on the left, and Solitude is on the right. Solitude’s roof extends across the wooden deck between the two lodges and laps Vertebrae’s roof. This design made for a nice place to get out of the snow, and it’s where the hot tub is located. Notice the scenery.
The three Bombardier snow cats were loaded and left by 8:45am each morning (except the first morning, when we spent 45 mins. or so on avalanche transceiver exercises). Each cat holds 12 guests, 2 guides, and 1 driver. The cats were stocked with delicious sandwiches, cookies, fruit, etc. for each group; we ate lunch in the cat on the rides up to the drop-off points.
